We were delighted to welcome a strong turnout of 65 riders, along with 10 conducted route riders, for our latest trial. The atmosphere was buzzing from the start, with riders of all ages and abilities ready to tackle the day's challenges.
The Sections
With the recent wet weather leaving the ground saturated and slippery, our course setters made the sensible decision to set the sections out slightly on the easier side. However, don't let that fool you – the conditions still provided plenty of challenges! The slippery ground meant that technical lines required careful thought, precise throttle control, and well-chosen lines. What might have been straightforward in dry conditions became a real test of bike control and balance.
Riders faced a variety of obstacles throughout the day, with rocks, roots, and off-camber slopes all made trickier by the wet conditions. The greasy surfaces caught out even some of our more experienced competitors, but that's all part of the fun of trials riding!
The Performances
Despite the challenging conditions, riders absolutely rose to the occasion and put in some fantastic performances across all classes. It was brilliant to see riders adapting their techniques to suit the conditions – momentum became key, and finding grip where others couldn't made all the difference.
The expert class saw some particularly impressive riding, with several riders demonstrating excellent bike control through the toughest sections. Meanwhile, our novice and clubman riders showed great determination, many improving lap by lap as they got to grips with the slippery terrain.
Our conducted route riders deserve special mention too – watching the youngsters navigate their way around with growing confidence is always a highlight of any event. The progression we're seeing in these young riders is fantastic for the future of the sport.
The Atmosphere
What really stood out was the incredible spirit throughout the day. The trials community is something special, and today proved that once again. Riders were helping each other out, sharing tips on line choice, and cheering on their fellow competitors. Whether you were battling for a class win or just trying to get round without too many dabs, everyone was enjoying themselves and making the most of the day.
The camaraderie between riders, families, and spectators created a brilliant atmosphere that's what our sport is all about. It's not just about the competition – it's about the friendships, the shared experiences, and the mutual respect between everyone involved.
Thank You to Our Observers
None of this would be possible without our incredible team of observers. Standing out all day for our enjoyment, keeping accurate scores, and ensuring the event runs smoothly is no small task. Your dedication and effort are absolutely vital to making our events happen, and we cannot thank you enough.
If anyone is interested in becoming an observer, please get in touch – training is available, and it's a great way to be involved in the sport and give back to the trials community.
